“At Harry’s Bar the drinks we serve… are the essence of the bar itself. […] Today Prosecco is universally appreciated and recognized all over the world. Here at Cipriani’s we like to think that the success of our original Bellini contributed to Prosecco’s rise to fame.”

ARRIGO CIPRIANI

The homelands and origins of Prosecco DOC

The homelands of Prosecco DOC in the northeastern region of Italy stretch from Friuli-Venezia Giulia to Veneto. However, Prosecco as we know it today comes from an area near the city of Trieste. This area was originally called “Prosek” in the Serbo-Croatian language, which means “cut wood”, precisely because of how the trees were cut down to create space for the cultivation of vineyards.

And so, as its first point of reference in the world of Prosecco, Cipriani Drinks has chosen this graveled and rocky stretch of land where the Cipriani Prosecco DOC vineyards stand, poised in the stillness and beauty of the surrounding landscape.
